After reversing its course earlier this year by announcing plans to offer IE 7.0 in ’05, Microsoft today announced the new features contained in 7.0 would be primarily security-related. Nevertheless, word was quickly spead that the browser will provide tabbed browsing and an RSS aggregator (press release).
Of course this comes as no surprise to the 6-8% of web users like myself who have been using FireFox. Truth be told, if Microsoft were not to include these features, their market share would most likely continue to fall. It’s just another example of someone pioneering something beautiful, and Microsoft copying it (see Microsoft Windows, IE, and many others). As for you…support the future and get Firefox.
