My Experience with Craigslist

Lately I’ve shared with a number of people my experience and satisfaction with buying and selling items on Craigslist. Literally, it’s my favorite place to shop. I’ve learned the value of buying pre-owned items, everything from appliances to gadgets to vehicles and baby gear. I thought it would be fun to make a list of everything I can remember buying and selling on Craigslist. Here goes:

Random Thoughts for Friday

I’m ready for the weekend, aren’t you? Saturday is our annual “Wii are thankful” cell group social at the McSpaddens. Should be fun to play Mario Kart on their big TV with a bunch of friends.

New York Magazine informs me that there will be a fourth Bourne movie. Apparently Universal has purchased exclusive rights to Bourne scripts from Robert Ludlums estate, and they intend to make it their answer to Bond films. I say, keep ‘em coming. All three of the Matt Damon movies have been superb, and I’m glad they are making more (although I will say that the movies are very different from the books).

Toyota brought a CNG Hybrid Camry to the LA Auto Show this week. Of course CNG cars don’t make much sense right now, but as soon as gas goes back up next year we’re going to be looking for alternatives again. CNG seems to make sense, and it’s already in the ground all over the place. I would be tempted to buy a CNG Hybrid and a garage Phill station.

I’m not doing very good with Christmas so far this year…please send ideas. HOWEVER…house lights are going up this weekend!

I really dislike mowing, but it’s one of those package deals with homeownership I guess. Anyways, I was flipping through Popular Mechanics this week and saw something for the first time. A roomba for the yard!

Anyways…sorry I haven’t posted anything lately. Been busy with lots of stuff lately including overtime at the office, some big projects with Kirksey Solutions and a new home improvement project. That a way to kick-off summer, eh?

Timely Story on Bank Fraud

I woke up this morning to an email from Bank of America, alerting me of "irregular activity" on my account. Sure enough, after logging in to examine the damages, someone in Plano had scored $900 worth of merch at a local Wal-Mart overnight.

I don’t know about you, but this happens to me about once a year and never really surprises me anymore. It’s relatively easy to deal with, and only a minor inconvenience (not even a fraction of trouble compared to identity fraud). Furthermore, I’m always thankful that guidelines are in place that protect the account holder and encourage banks and merchants to be alert and vigilant.

Anyways, after 10 minutes on the phone this morning I’m back to my regular routine. While reading through the headlines, I saw this story from the NY Times. Timely, eh? Maybe I should reconsider my accounts with Bank of America…

The Steroids Hearing – Part 1

OK, some of these congressman seem somewhat knowledgeable, but for the most part this is a waste. The first several questions were answered like this: "Thank you for the question, congressman, and it is one that I answered completely in my report." Translation: You didn’t read my report, did you?

Then we had others that were interested in Palmeira’s (??) 3,000th hit. And then a reference to commissioner Sulig (??). C’mon people!

There Goes My Evening

Google just added Streetview for several more cities including my home town of Big-D. I simply love this thing…it’s so compelling. But, all you Dallas folks need to spend the evening ensuring that the Google cams didn’t catch you picking your nose or something like that.

Gearing Up for Las Vegas

Next week I’m headed to Las Vegas for PubCon, the year’s most anticipated search engine marketing conference. I’m really getting excited about this, as I haven’t been to a search marketing conference in several years. I’ve also never been to Vegas, so it should be fun to see the city and take lots of pictures. I’m not really a gambler, but I might try my hand at blackjack once or twice if I can round up some loose change.

Me and two co-workers are staying at the New York-New York, which looks really sweet (rollercoaster and everything). Gotta give credit to NMG for investing some money into my team and rewarding our guys for some hard work these last few months. Out of the three of us who are going, I’m the only one who’s ever been to something similar, so I’m really excited for Zach and Brent cause I know they’ll learn a ton.
