Help Me Raise Money for 89.7 PowerFM

September 23rd, 2006

For those of you outside of the DFW area, let me introduce you to 89.7 PowerFM. Commercial-free Christian alternative music around the clock, playing bands like Kutless, Pillar, Kids in the Way, Skillet and others. Thanks to PowerFM, I can stand driving a car with a missing CD player (and forgive the one that stole it).

A co-worker and I have signed up to play in the first ever PowerFM Golf-A-Thon. We’re going to play 50 holes in one day! I’m trying to raise a minumum of $1,500, so I’m appealing to you for help. If you can spare a few bucks and would like to pledge a per-hole donation to help this financially-struggling radio station, please click here. To encourage sponsorship (and so you don’t feel like you’re paying for my day of fun), I’m matching $0.25 for every dollar donated. Every amount is appreciated, even if you can only donate $0.50 a hole.

LaLa.com – Forget iTunes, Get Whole CDs for a Buck!

June 8th, 2006

I love reading John Battelle, and today he pointed me to lala.com. Basically, it’s a CD swapping service where you pay $1 (plus shipping) for each CD you want. The interface is nice and AJAXy, and the selection seems to be decent. Something I’ll keep my eye on…

Caedmon’s Call

November 6th, 2005

Sarah and I attended Fusion Conference today at IBC, and we got to see Caedmon’s Call for the first time in about 4 years. It was bittersweet in many ways for me. I forgot how much I enjoy their music, and they are still producing great stuff. However, seeing them without Derek Webb was really tough for me. They have since replaced Derek with another guitarist / vocalist / song writer, but he really doesn’t compare. Give credit to Caedmon’s for continuing on after such a great loss, though. They were also great in the breakout sessions speaking about the injustices in India concerning the Dalits.
